Are you one of the people that complain that festivals seem to sell out too quickly? Well, today the people at Goldenvoice have an idea for you all. Next year's Coachella will feature the "same lineup, same art, same place" over the course of two weekends next April. We're curious to see how this all would work out and if successful, would more festivals start doing this? Could you imagine two ACL Festivals next year, on back-to-back weekends? [Via]
Saskatchewan is a dream pop outfit from Orlando that will surely be making the rounds on blogs and mixtapes in the near future. Their track, "Dreamboat" is just perfect for summer listening. Btw, you can download it for free at their bandcamp page. [Via IGIF]
Justin Vernon has easily one of the most incredible voices in music. Take a listen to the first single ("Calgary") to emerge off the new Bon Iver, Bon Iver album. Thankfully we won't have to wait too long to hear the rest of the new disc, as it's due out June 21st via Jagjagjuwar.
If you'd like to take a look at the lyrics for the new album, you can do so here. Also, if you'd like to see how Gregory Euclide came up with the beautiful artwork, he's posted the videos on Youtube (Pt. 1, Pt. 2, Pt. 3) and My Love For You also has an interview with him detailing the process.
Having read enough about all the idiots who believe in the rapture, it's time to start paying attention to the only rapture that matters, the band. The Rapture announced, via their blog, that they are planning to release a new album entitled In The Grace Of Your Love on September 6th on DFA Records. It's been far too long...
As talented as they come, Little Scream (aka Laurel Sprengelmeyer) performs vocals, guitar, violin, and keyboards on her debut album, The Golden Record. Co-produced by Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, the disc also features contributions from Aaron Dessner (The National), Sarah Neufeld (Arcade Fire), and Patty McGee (Stars). And when it's all said and done, it'll surely be on many best-of-2011-lists (ours should be no exception).
The amazing stop-motion video (which must have taken forever) up above for "Red Hunting Jacket" was directed by Rachel Granofsky.
You can catch Little Scream (opening up for the The Antlers) next month here in Austin on the outside stage at Emo's on Tuesday, June 7th. Tickets are only $15, purchase them here.

We are winding down to the last few shows at The Ghost Room before it closes it's doors and tonight Knuckle Rumbler has a great one for you. Blank Fritz (formerly Sunset), Missions, Spells (formerly MothFight) and Sorne all for only $5. I notice I have been doing a lot of (formerly)'s lately. What's with bands changing their names all the time? And while were on the subject why are they Sunset on the Gorilla vs Bear bill but Blank Fritz on this one? And when did they lose the {{{ }}}?? Is it time for me to change my name and play the (formerly Ultra8201) card? These questions plague me... Whatever he goes by Bill Baird is one of Austin's greatest talents and Missions are phenomenal so DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW. Oh and if you show up on a bike you get $1 Lone Star!
Blank Fritz (formerly Sunset), Missions, Spells, Sorne Art installation by Vid Kidz and One of One May 19th (Tonight) @ The Ghost Room 304 W. 4th Street Doors at 8PM | $5

I trust his taste more than most so when Gorilla Vs Bear hinted at his first festival a few days ago I was all ears. Today we have the line up announcement and if you read GVsB regularly you can tell that he chose a lot of his favorites was very meticulous in his choices. The final product is a very solid day of music. I for one will be heading down to Dallas to take part and I highly suggest that all of you do the same.
The inaugural lineup couldn't be much more representative of the inspiration and history behind this blog, as it features our current favorite band (White Denim), the newest endeavor of one of my favorite rappers of all-time, and the creator of the best album of 2011 to date (Shabazz Palaces), the debut of the new project from a Dallas icon* and founder of one of the most beloved bands in the history of our hometown, and much more. The bill is rounded out by a few of our favorite -- and most posted about -- artists that are currently making music: Julianna Barwick, Grimes (who'll be coming off a stint opening for Lykke Li's current North American tour), Sleep ∞ Over, Pure X,Sunset, and Dreamed, with DJ sets coming between bands from Dallas' own Sober.
*Tim DeLaughter's (Polyphonic Spree) new project Preteen Zenith will also perform.
[Purchase Tickets] and be sure to show to venue early: The first 200 people through the door get a screen print of the above poster for free.
There has been much speculation on who the headliners were going to be and most of us got a clue this weekend when names started to leak (with the exception of Coldplay) but now we have the full 2011 Austin City Limits Festival line up. Commence the cheering, bitching or whatever other emotions you may be feeling now. Headliners aside we have to say we are pretty stoked about Twin Shadow, Death From Above 1979 and Wild Beasts. Plus love him or hate him Kanye is going to give us SOMETHING to talk about.
Started only a few days ago, Single Cuts is a brand new website created here in Austin with a concept of creating a song in a short time. First, they begin with a songwriter and a simple chord structure, then they add in a mix of local artists, along with a studio and an engineer. Ideas are traded back-and-forth through emails and sometimes demos, with the artists converging on one day to create a collaboration. It's a great idea if you ask us!
I wrote the song as a little tribute to Jackie Deshannon. I was hoping for some kinda’ old-school pop feel. Danny and Justin definitely helped trim some of the fat of the original arrangement, and after a few attempts at different ‘feels’ for the song, we settled into a back-and-forth between a 50’s groove on the verses and a more straight forward chorus. Danny ended up hitting on this cool surf-vibe that keeps the song moving. I’ve worked with Erik a lot in the past, and always love being at Cacophony. Its such a great space, with a big open main room that lends itself well to collaborating and hashing out ideas. He had a lot of tasteful input when it came to amp choice for guitars, effects on the slide, even a great ‘dub’ slap on the drums. Dana is one of the most unique voices in Austin, and an awesome individual to work with. We bounced a few ideas off each other in terms of harmony and melody, and she slowly emerged with the eerie little vocal ditty at the top of the versus. It wasn’t long into the day that we were really starting to get into the spirit of the song. The last thing we tracked was Justin’s outstanding slide work. We plugged him into a bunch of effects and just let him improve through the song a few times. He seemed to nail it on the first pass, but in sticking with the pop sensibility, he and Erik went through it several times to arrive at something subtle, unique, and perfect for the song. I was really impressed how smooth everything went. What a great way to spend a day. We had a few beers, and Erik spent a little time at the end cleaning up the mix. There’s something really satisfactory about starting with a simple idea and ending up with a great song at the end of it all. No obsessing over the mix for weeks, no million more overdubs, no vocal comps, no worrying about album track order.... wipe your hands with a days hard work done....oh how satisfying. (via)
The next session includes members of: The Sour Notes, Tiny Tin Hearts, The Low Lows, and My Education.
If you would like to become involved with Single Cuts as either a musician, songwriter, engineer, studio owner, web-designer, sponsor, idea-monger, photographer, videographer, or artist/thinker of any kind get in touch via email.
After the hugely successful premiere last week at the Alamo Drafthouse, Echotone was given an additional run that began this past weekend and runs through the next few days. Great show this Thursday with some of our favorites. Best part is that the show is absolutely FREE. Sailor Jerry is sponsoring so it's safe to say if you get there early there will probably be some samples. Get to it.

We had a great time at Arcade Fire & Explosions In The Sky on Tuesday evening at The (new) Backyard! While the venue has some parking issues to work out, we have to say the performance by Arcade Fire was (as always) full of energy, with the crowd hanging onto every last word.
Now onto the pictures of both bands and videos of "The Suburbs" and "No Cars Go". Hope you enjoy!
It was announced today that Radiohead will be performing The King of Limbs in its entirety on television. The 55-minute broadcast Radiohead—The King of Limbs: Live From the Basement will also include behind-the-scenes footage from the band, and makes it the second in the series from Radiohead producer, Nigel Godrich. According to the BBC, the performance is filmed in HD, will have no audience and no presenter and is scheduled to air on Friday, July 1st.
I, for one, am extremely excited to watch/purchase this! (via)(via)
