Video: Memoryhouse - "Heirloom"

I pretty much fell in love with director Jamie Harley after first seeing the video for Twin Shadow's "Castles In The Snow" and I have been obsessing every since. The latest video comes from the Memoryhouse track "Heirloom" and features footage from the 1969 documentary shot on the set of a Philippe Garrel movie, Le lit de la Vierge.

Memoryhouse will be releasing their second 7" single, entitled "Caregiver" on December 7 through Suicide Squeeze, with a digital release of November 9. The b-side will be the new song "Heirloom."

And just in case you missed it here is the video for "Castles In The Snow".

The Bleet-Up Is Coming....

If you spend most of your day checking out blogs, tweeting and checking into Gowalla hot spots then this is the party for you. This is the party where you get meet all these people you admire from your computer and actually meet them face to face.

We had such a huge turn out last year that this time around we thought we would give ourselves a little more breathing room so we are taking over the rooftop terrace at Whole Foods HQ downtown. Everything thing you need in one place. Samples of both food and drinks, pop up shops for you fashionistas and a full size skating rink.

Music provided by Politics, The Lennings and MoTel Aviv all performing live along with special guests 23 Positions covering all of Princes classics. uLovei will do DJ sets throughout the night. Here is your guide:

THE BLEET UP SURVIVAL TIPS:

1. Get There Early - It's going to fill up early and you don't want to be left out. There is a capacity and once we reach it it's one in one out.
2. Bring Cash - The cover is $7 and there are a lot of samples to try. Make sure you have your cover ready and plenty of tip money.
3. Tweet It - This is a social networking party after all. Make sure to tweet all night and use the hash tag #bleetup.

THE MUSIC:

MoTel Aviv are an Austin foursome with a particularly potent brand of poppy rock and roll. Their major strength is in the songwriting. When all systems are firing 100 percent, it’s hard to find fault in MoTel Aviv’s assembly of the moving parts or their delivery of a hook. If the jangling, ringing guitar work doesn’t get you, you ignore the stomping beat and you’re somehow impervious to a chorus that easily gets lodged auditory canal like an earwig, then, who knows, you might be allergic to fun. - Austinist

“The Lennings, vocally and musically, continue to brilliantly manipulate an impossible thread of continuity that links folk to rock to Americana to indie pop.” -Amanda Warr, Best of Texas.com

This Austin alt-indie group can be found regularly at some of Austin’s favorite rock haunts like Mohawk and The Parish performing with other local acts such as The Authors, MoTel Aviv and Whitman. The music of Politics is thankfully much less complicated and messy than the practice of politics. Layered guitars pinging and fuzzed out are in league with the blended pulse of the rhythm section and the echo of haunting vocals. “Light In Your Eyes” is a great place to start - Austinist

23 Positions

Something like this.....

Miguel Angel's style would best be described as a mix between Radioclit and New Order with a little touch of Roy Orbison. He also has a bit of a punk-rock back ground, so dont be surprised if you here a some The Clash dropped with a little cumbia. - Art Disaster.com

The Golden Filter Remix The Morning Benders' "Excuses"

goodbye
We twittered about this a few days ago, but figured we'd give it a proper post. Recently, The Golden Filter remixed one of our favorite songs ("Excuses") off one of favorite albums (The Morning Benders' Big Echo) of 2010.

Ten Years Gone

Checking out some of the "best of" lists of years past reminded me what a seminal year 2000 was in music. It's hard to believe so many keystone albums turned 10 this year. Here's a little nostalgic mix from a decade ago:
