Echotone Trailer

Video: Tame Impala | Lucidity

Tame Impala's latest release "Innerspeaker" is already placing high on our year's best and now the band has just released their video for 'Lucidity'. The band will be in town on December 1st at Emo's with Stardeath and White Dwarfs and Kuroma. They are playing inside which is pretty shocking. I would expect this to either get moved to the larger stage or sell out. Get on it.

Last Night: The Drums at the ND

The Drums returned to Austin Saturday night, bringing an energetic 45 minute set to the ND. The Drums stand out amongst the current crop of surf pop bands by infusing a bit of 1980’s Manchester to their sound. One part Brian Wilson and one part Tony Wilson.

The show opened with the excellent song “It Will All End In Tears,” though the night would not suffer that fate. It would all end in smiles and a sweaty dance floor. Singer Jonathan Pierce was in top form channeling his inner Morrissey. His microphone whips urged the crowd to get straight, go forward, and move ahead. By the time the exceedingly catchy “Me and the Moon,” was doled out, the group was hitting its stride. Despite the fact that guitarist Adam Kessler left the band earlier in the week, the group’s sound was as tight as their pinch-rolled jeans.

Also, Our good friends at Austin Town Hall had a different idea of the night. We highly recommend checking out their write up of the night and then watching the video below after to make up your own conclusions.

White Denim Releases New Record Last Day of Summer [FREE Download]

Today, White Denim decided to release a new collection of songs entitled, Last Day of Summer. It's a win-win because we get new White Denim and it's FREE.

[Download HERE]

Taken from White Denim's official website:
"...we are pleased to share a handful of them with you right now. this record is something we made as a little summer retreat from our ongoing work on the third full length. many of these tunes have been bouncing around since the formation of the band back in 06. we were super pumped to utilize a few fresh and casual musical approaches on this record. we hope that you find something that satisfies you within this body of work. if you enjoy the music and feel compelled to support the group, please notice the support button beneath the download link and the image. we are going to be heading out on the roads this october and would greatly appreciate anything that you would feel comfortable contributing.
i would also like to add that we are still hard at work on the as yet untitled third lp. we expect to be wrapping that record at the end of the month."

Also, the band is now a four-piece with the inclusion of new member, Austin Jenkins. If you'd like to contribute anything to the band for being so awesome, do so here. (via GvsB)

Designer Drugs - Thursday (9/16) at Republic Live

Designer Drugs (Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson) lead lifestyles of the rich and famous, but are really just poor boys who love helicopters and pop banger music…and a few other things that will not be noted. Currently, Designer Drugs is releasing new material with Iheartcomix Records. They’ve also been found partying on the couch at the Iheartcomix office.

With one member attending med school and the other drinking whiskey across the globe, to keep from going crazy last year – the DD boys produced over 23 remixes and DJ’d over 100 shows around the world. This year, to keep from going crazy, Designer Drugs is putting the focus on original material while continuing to tour the galaxy and party harder than ever.

For Your Consideration: Great Movies About Music

24 Hour Party People
Come for the sounds of Madchester, stay for God chastising Tony Wilson for not signing The Smiths.

Almost Famous
A love letter to rock and roll with hearts over the i's and glitter in the envelope.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil
When following your dream starts becoming a nightmare, there's always Japan!

Crazy Heart

DiG!
Seven years documenting the rivalry between The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. They're hot then they're cold; they're yes then they're no.

Don't Look Back/
Meeting People is Easy/
Heima
Three outstanding "rockumentaries" whose artistic visions directly mirror their respective subjects: the innovation of early Bob Dylan, the disengagement of OK Computer-era Radiohead, and the aural 'scapes of Sigur Ros.

Great World of Sound
A cringe-worthy comedy about the unethical practice of song sharking. The humor in this film is so dark it makes 1969 Tito look like 2009 embalmed MJ.

High Fidelity
A movie (check) about music (check check) filled with needless opinionated lists (check check check)!

Hustle & Flow
An Oscar win for Three 6 Mafia marked the first Academy Awards luncheon to offer a new concoction of Dom Perignon and sizzurp.

Hype!
She's overboard and self-assured.

Laurel Canyon
Dinosaur Ju...err...Sebado...err...Folk Implosion play the fictitious band covering original songs by the recently deceased Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse. It's an aging indie-rocker's wet dream.

This is Spinal Tap
A film in C-minor, the cleverest of all keys.

The Wall
Introducing kids to (and subsequently repelling them from) LSD since 1982.

Young @ Heart
Spoiler Alert: Most of them die at some point. Try not to get too emotionally attached.

The Morning Benders' new video for "All Day Day Light" is another great cut off of one of our favorite albums of 2010. Trust us, you definitely need to get your hands on Big Echo (Amazon currently has it for only $5.99).
