Magic Kids | "Hey Boy"

Opening up for the SOLD OUT Girls & Smith Westerns show tomorrow night at The Parish are Magic Kids. The seven piece are reminiscent of a time when I was younger and would listen with my dad playing the music from the 60's he grew up on. Brings a smile to my face. The Memphis band currently has a catchy single entitled "Hey Boy" and plans to release a forthcoming split 7" with Smith Westerns on Fat Possum. [Via]

We were actually going to have our 4th Anniversary show tomorrow but decided to bump up our show to tonight so we'd get a chance to catch all three of these great bands.

Show Spotlight: Austin Rock N' Swap

Before you head out to the Southside Sanctuary party on Saturday night we highly suggest you make a stop by Beauty Bar earlier that evening (6-10 to be exact) because one of our favorite local bloggers Austin Eavesdropper has teamed up with Magnolia Family Vintage for a vintage clothing swap. You can bring in 10 pieces of clothing (or $5) and that gets you in. There will also be some pop up shops set up so the opportunity to find some new stuff should be abundant. While you shop/hunt there will be music provided by KUT's Laurie Gallardo and drinks by Treaty Oak Rum. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon...

Ummm, yeah.

Fake Justice track "Beginning of the End", tricks bloggers into doing stuff at night.

By blogger law we are obligated to post this. So if you are one of those type of music fans that reads a bunch of blogs just keep moving along because we are pretty sure you have already seen this. But if you are the casual reader and have been wondering what happened to those Justice guys we have the answer. Tonight a new track "Beginning of the End" hit the interwebs and we got our first sneak at the new material. Check it out.

UPDATE: The song is a fake and the groups label Ed Banger sent out an email saying that it was sent from a hacked email address. We still think the picture is cool so we will keep the post up.

Last Night: The Cribs at The Parish

New Black Rebel Motorcycle Club | "Beat The Devil's Tattoo" [Stream]

Late last year, we mentioned that Black Rebel Motorcycle Club would be releasing their new album in March 2010. The first song to surface happens to also be the title track "Beat The Devil's Tattoo". Named after a phrase in Edgar Allan Poe's short story 'The Devil in the Belfry', the song almost didn't make the cut for the band's fifth album, with the finishing touches being completed the night before the album's deadline.

As told to Spinner:
"We called our engineer in the middle of the night and worked all night 'til the sun came up," says bassist Robert Levon Been. "The next day we delivered the record to our label and it went straight to the mastering lab. It was a mad dash, hearts pounding down to the last second." [Via]
