Spoon Makes Live Performances from Spoon X3 Available to Purchase

Spoon Live at Stubb's July 11, 2009
Hey, remember earlier this month when Spoon took over Stubb's for 3 straight nights? It was pretty awesome right? It'd be nice to have a recording of the show, huh? Well, last week while Spoon was working on their new album in Brooklyn, their sound engineer Hot Pockets happened to be in Austin mixing recordings of each of the three Stubb's shows. Each show was recorded in multi-track HD and you can purchase any of the 3 nights as an mp3 ($7) or FLAC ($9) download at the Spoon store. Better yet, you can purchase all three nights for $15 (mp3) or $20 (FLAC)! They also have that amazing poster that was at the shows for sale as well.

We happened to be at the Thursday night (Day 1) show. You can check out our pics and a video of a new song called "Is Love Forever"?.

Yeah Yeah Yeah's Short Film | Snakesweat

Remember those old sitcoms that would make fun of film students and it would show all this weird montages and in the end it say Fin. Well this is kinda like that only with the Yeah Yeah Yeah's. Officially described as mescaline infused and the YYY's playing severely warped versions of themselves. It's interesting to say the least and you can tell it was filmed on our old stomping grounds, the desert southwest...

Then in November, the Black Keys' frontman will be performing here in our hometown of Austin at ACL. He's slotted up against both Girl Talk and Sonic Youth, but there's no question as to who we're gonna see. To say we're excited would be an understatement!

Peel announces last show (for a while)

Just wanted to let you know about a blow-out next Friday, July 31st, at Bill Baird's new east side studio, Baby Blue.  Peel singer/guitarist Josh Permenter has decided follow in Doug Sahm's footsteps and move on out to San Francisco for a stretch, so this will be Peel's last show for a good while. As with any proper send-off, there will be kegs (plural).  Peel's friends {{{Sunset}}} and Little Stolen Moments will also be performing. The shin-dig gets rolling around 9pm.

Video: Metric on Letterman with Behind The Scenes footage

Metric is definitely one of our favorite bands and even though we were less than impressed with their Letterman performance we thought everyone should check it out if they missed it. 'Help I'm Alive' is still a great track and we are thinking that Emily Haines was so subdued because she was nervous. The idea of a video leading up to the performance was a good idea though. Check it out...

Gossip announce headlining tour (with Austin Date)

Gossip have announced their U.S. headlining tour in support of their new album Music For Men. The tour kicks off in Washington, DC at 9:30 Club on October 7 and runs through October 30 at Vino’s in Little Rock, AR (see below for full itinerary). I'm excited to say that an Austin date is scheduled as well on October 29th at Emo's. Produced by multi Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin, Music For Men is in stores on Tuesday October 6, 2009. Music For Men has the UK press raving.  Clash called it "Wild, sexy and scintillating, ‘Music For Men’ is the most euphoric thing you’ll hear this year." Guardian exclaimed Music for Men is a raised fist of a record. This record is bigger and better than anything they’ve done before.” We have already had a listen to the record and it exceeds expectations.

New Thom Yorke (Solo) Video :: "The Present Tense" (Live)

This past weekend, Thom Yorke performed a special solo show at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk. During the set, he debuted a new song, entitled "The Present Tense". Although we're not sure yet if this will part of a new Radiohead disc or another solo album, we do have a video proof of the new song. Such an amazing up close video! (via)

New Muse :: "United States of Eurasia"

We are extremely excited for the release of the new Muse album, The Resistance! Not due out until Sept. 15, the band has chosen to release "United States of Eurasia" in six different parts and unlock the song throughout different cities in the world with fans finding USBs and pasting the song together.

Starting on July 15th, five sections of the song United States of Eurasia out of six were unlocked in the viral game 'Ununited States of Eurasia' on Muse's official website . The five sections have been pasted together and, thus, about three minutes of the song can be heard. On the 20th of July, the 6th part was found, but the song is still incomplete (on the track listing it is over 5 minutes) now the virtual game has been introduced to the USA, with the official website asking for 'recognition' from the USA to help complete the song. But too lazy to go through all that? Yeah us too, so give it a listen below......
